I think my laptop is secretly trying to sabotage me........

Last night I wrote 3 blog posts, so that they could be up-loaded over the next few days because I am painfully aware I really owe you guys some blog posts.

Today I go to up load the first one only to find they have completly disappeared. Stupid laptop. So instead of the witty and well thought out post I had planned you are going to get this..... apologies in advance.

I’ve had a good week. I got lots of compliments at church about how well I’m looking (polite speak for lost weight/no-longer resemble a bag lady). I haven’t really lost any weight in the 7 weeks I’ve been away but I have invested in some new clothes. More specifically I may have raided the basics section at H&M and am now the proud owner of several well fitting t-shirts (non- black I might add), a jumper (I never wear jumpers, I’m normally a Cardigan kinda girl) and most excitingly a black and white striped mini-skirt which I am in love with (so in love with it I’m seriously considering returning for it in different colours!!!).
I'm loving having contacts again! Its been a year scince I had them last and I forgot how much of a difference they make to life, silly things like not ripping out half the hair  on my head because it's gotten tangled up  in my glasses fringe, being able to wear sunglasses ect ect.

I went out for dinner with a couple of girls and had a lovely evening where we talked about everything and nothing. It was fun. Also, at one point Jo said she found me impressive because of my ability to keep moving hundreds of miles away to new places, I never think about it like that but it was nice to see that other people don’t always view me as a complete disaster zone. Also there was pie and chips.  I do love pie.

On Wednesday, as a treat (I can’t believe I just typed that, who am I?), I drove to the local national park for my run. I always thought Beacon fell was a super easy walk, well not when you’re running it, I wanted to DIE. Seriously By the time I got to the top I was wheezing like crazy and my legs were jelly. But it was very pretty! ( I’d up-load photos but my lap top is on a go-slow today and I fear that would just push it over the edge!

Right I’ll leave it there for now, I’ll attempt to post again tomorrow, a post full of photos, but I’m back at work on Monday so we’ll see, laziness may win out.

Weekly goals

Fitnasty for Life

Helloooooo Ladies!
Today I’m linking up with the gorgeous Carolyn (who would be even more gorgeous in a leather jacket, just saying) for the weekly goals thingy-ma-bob.
Last week I sorta made some on Wednesday. Which was basically, smoothie breakfast, soup lunch and clean eating snacks and dinner. Oh and exercise everyday. FAIL. Oh so much failing. After I made that resolution, my parents decided that as they are doing quite a number of renovations to the house they may as well go full hog and rip up the floorboards that need replacing in the kitchen. Not having a working kitchen seriously messed with the above plan. It has meant no soup and eating out for dinner which is problematic, especially as I order food based on yummyness, not health (probably something I should work on). Sooooo yeah. I did go for 2 runs since that post but still not quite the exercise everyday goal. Whoops!
But the Kitchen is slowly getting back to a useable state, most of the floor is back so that’s good.
My goals for this week:

1)    Drink enough water. I never thought I would be one of those people that needed this as a goal, I have always drunk an excessive amount of water, but working outside without access to toilet facilities I got out of the habbit of constantly drinking. However, I have one week left before I go back to it so I’m going to guzzle water like its going out of fashion this week!

2)    Make wiser snacking choices! No more whipping up individual brownie portions just because you can! Bad Kirsty! Or eating the whole bar of lindt chilli chocolate (a portion is 2 squares not a whole bar!!!). Eat fruit, or olives or even a baby bell just stay away from the sugar!

3)    Exercise everyday. I think part of the problem is I keep thinking this means doing “proper” exercise like running or a fitness DVD, but I’m at home for the week which means I have a my hula hoop, so there is no excuse!

4)    Having said that get out for 3 runs. Being lazy over the winter means I’ve lost so much of my running stamina and now it’s time to pay the price!
These are completely doable and not overly ambitious so hopefully I can stick to them!

I'm back!

It is entirely possible that I am the worst blogger in the world. In my defence things have been...... intense around here lately. Including, but not limited to: my cousin being attacked, driving 750 miles in under 5 days, whilst still putting in 3 full days of work, visiting 3 different friends, thinking I like a boy only to be rejected (indirectly, loooooong story), oh and crying in front of a complete stranger over issues with Uni which continues to torture me.

Weigh In Wednesday

First things first. I weighed in this morning at 184. Which is a 3lb loss in 2 weeks (I missed last weeks WIW). I am obviously pleased that with everything going on I’ve still managed a loss BUT this was me weighing in on my normal scales, at home first thing in the morning, so who knows if it’s a real loss!

Secondly I may not be very good at commenting, mainly because it seems like ALOT of effort with my phone, but I have definitely still been stalking you all.

Thirdly, Reg would like me to pass on his warmest congratulations, which I full-heartedly endorse, to Shannon on being a curling champion!

Fourthly I am re-comitting. I know I said I was going to do that 2 weeks ago but then last week happened. Folks, I am eating all the grains and I know they don’t agree with me so it needs to stop. So my plan of action is simple. A veg/fruit smoothie for breakfast (although if this doesn’t pan out in-terms of me feeling satisfied then I’ll switch back to yogurt, the important thing is it won’t be bread! Egg and veg mini quiche for a mid-morning snack. Soup for lunch (probably spinach, I do love spinach). And then some sort of balanced meal for dinner, with sweet potato or rice. Oh and Frozen yoghurt when I need a sweet treat, so quite possibly daily. Side note, I’ve been thinking a lot about the implications of what we eat not just on a personal but also at a global level, I may do a post about it at some point.

And lets not forget about exercise. Now that I’m not walking for hours on end (I have a 2 week break) and my IT band seems to be healed its time to hop back on that running band-wagon. Which I tried last night, sadly I seem to have lost all my stamina which means starting from the start of the stupid C25K plan again. I’m going to try and do something every day for 30mins minimum. However, I am currently toying with the idea (as in it just occurred to me as I was typing this) of doing JM Yoga melt-down daily, its only half an hour, I can so commit to that right?

I figure if I make a real effort to form all these habbits in this 2 week “break” (its not a real break because there is always the dreaded thesis) then when I’m back at work it should be easier to keep them up.

OK. I think that’s all for today, I don’t want to over-whelm you!

bits n'bobs

Soooooo todays post is going to be a bit of a hodge podge. Firstly its NSV Thursday, and as this wasn’t a good week on the scales it’s important to celebrate them. And well, this week they are a tad.... weird. Firstly, I was in the back seat of a car with 2 other fully grown adults and rather than freaking out about how I was SO FAT AND THEREFORE TAKING UP ALL THE ROOM, instead I was thinking “I can’t believe those bloody boys have left me with so little room”. HUGE mental shift. And honestly they really had left me with the smallest of spots, the moment I opened the door I fell out! The second NSV is weirder.  I accidently ended up with a pair of Maja’s thermal tights (we occasionally pooled our washing). Anyway, it wasn’t until I had them on I realised they weren’t mine. I was so excited. Maja is super duper fit and healthy, and as a result quite slim, and her tights fit, I mean sure tights are stretchy but still!
OK, moving on from my under-garment stealing ways. I was nominated for the Leibster award by 2 different, but both amazing, ladies Shannon and Alexia! However, as we all know I am a fundamentally lazy person, so instead of answering both sets of questions I’ve compiled a mix, 7 questions and 6 random fact (because Shannon’s called for both)!
1.    What actor/actress would you want to play you in a movie about your life?
This is a tough one. Kat Dennings is quite possibly the hottest woman alive, and also she has the necessary big boobs, because I don’t feel a movie about me could really miss the pain cause by these appendages and so to accurately capture it they’d also have to be... well endowed in that department. However, Kristen Bell is just so stinking adorable, I wish I could be as awesome as her, sooooo if she could play me maybe I’d get awesome by proxy?
2.    What's your pop culture fandom? (i.e. Star Wars, Doctor Who, etc)
Oh my goodness, this is an EVIL question. I mean seriously how is someone supposed to answer this. I grew up on doctor who, I don’t remember a time before star wars was in my life and that’s completely neglecting every other fandom I know and love like LOTR, Star Trek, SG1, Firefly I mean the list goes on. In fact I pass on this question I think it breached my basic human rights to love ALL the fandoms!
3.    Pirates or Ninjas? Why?
This question is poorly phrased. Does it mean who would win in a fight, or who is cooler? And what kind of pirates are we talking, Johny Depp or Neil Ardman, also who is the Ninja in question? Can I have a Pirate who also possesses Ninja skills. I really don’t think you thought this question through properly did you? Fine, Pirates, because pirates are awesome. Actually it has just been pointed out to me by Reg that this is a ridiculous question because clearly dinosaurs trump both.
4.     If you had to choose only one: cat or dog?
We have discussed this.... Dogs because I like unconditional love from my pets not constant appraisal and judgement.
5.    What's your favourite music artist/band?
I like all sorts of music, anything that makes me feel something, even if that feeling is just the over-whelming need to shake my booty. However, I have developed a slight obsession with She & Him and Amy McDonald rocks.
6.    What was your favourite cartoon growing up?
Scooby doo or Pinky and the brain. And then as an adult, sponge bob.
7.    What fictional character do you have the biggest crush on?#
ALL OF THEM. No really, I continuously develop crushes on fictional characters. Henry Tilney from Northanger Abby is probably my longest standing fictional crush. He is the perfect version of every guy I ever fall for.
8. I don’t use a hook when crocheting, just my finger.
9. One of my closest friends used to be a drug dealer.
10. I can ALWAYS whip up something sweet to eat, doesn’t matter what you have in the pantry, as long as there is sugar (and sometimes even this is optional) I can make a scrummy (even if I do say so myself) dessert.
11. I can always navigate to the closest super-market, I have an internal compass that always know the direction to head in. Doesn’t matter whether I am in a city or the countryside. And its a trans-continental skill too, very handy sometimes.
I nominate the following (and yes I am being UBER lazy and just posting the links, but it is very late):
And then I got bored/got so tired I lost the will to live/continue. So here’s the deal, if you stumble across this blog and fancy giving these questions a go then I’m nominating you, just let me know so that I can start stalking/following you which will make this a legitimate set-up right?
The rules are (though obvs I broke them):
1. Link the blog that nominated you for the award
2. Choose 11 bloggers to nominate who have less than 200 followers
3. Answer the 11 questions (below) given to you
4. Let the people you have nominated know that you have done so
5. You can't nominate the person that nominated you
6. Create 11 questions for the people you nominate to answer
I would like you ladies to answer the above questions and include 4 random facts about yourself at the end. I’m really looking forward to reading these!

Weigh In Wednesday

I’m so sorry that since I got a job I’ve been a terrible blogger! What can I say not having a fixed schedule or working hours makes life a tad more awkward! However, you can all rejoice because I’m back! So tomorrow I’ll be finally filling out the Leibster award questions.

In the meantime I am horrified by this weeks weigh in. I knew I’d been slacking off, especially when I was unwell. However, what I did not expect, 187!!!! How did I put on that much! Although as I keep reminding myself, I weighed in on a new scale, at a slimming world meeting (I’ll come back to this) in the evening when fully dressed, but even taking into account all of that, I’m definitely up.

However rather than slinking off in shame, I’m still linking up. Being honest and hoping you guys help keep me accountable. I WILL shift this. However, I have a little more money than usual (actually, having any money, even this tiny amount is more than usual) and because things in my life are even more un-settled than normal I need the accountability of real people, who can call me out on stuff. So I’ve joined up with slimming world, I won’t be able to afford it for long but in the short-term I think it will provide the kick up the backside I need to get back on track. I picked slimming world because I think more than most other plans they encourage a healthier/balanced diet (although there still seems to be an over-emphasis on chemical laden foods). Also their biggest advantage is that I can go to any meeting anywhere in the country, which is good, as for the next few weeks I won’t necessarily be in one location but I can still go along to meetings.

So there we have it folks, I put on, but you know what, it’s not the end of the world, and I now have some measures in place to help me be successful moving forward. So here’s hoping next weeks WIW is a great one!
